DESCRIPTION

The goal of this scenario is to help the adult literacy learner understand and use very basic oral and written discourse in the real life situation of using banking services. The scenario allows the learner to engage in a variety of reading, writing, listening and oral interaction activities that simulate an authentic experience of dealing with a bank representative in order to open an account, of making use of personal cheques and of utilizing automated banking services. This scenario consists of three learning situations: 1. Opening a Bank Account 2. Using Cheques 3. Using an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

INTENTION PÉDAGOGIQUE

Andragogical Intention SITUATION 1: “Opening a Bank Account” Adult learners understand and use very basic language resources in order to establish a personal bank account. SITUATION 2: “Using Cheques” Adult learners understand and use very basic language resources in order to make use of personal cheques. *SITUATION 3: “Using an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)” Adult learners understand and use very basic language resources in order to operate an automated teller machine. *Only Situation 3 is developed in the scenario.

Utilisation

The learning scenario, Using Banking Services, constitutes an excellent preparation for adult learners, at the beginning of their language literacy development, who want to use banking services since the learning activities are similar to the actions required in the real-life situation of banking.
