The present LAB, entitled The Job Interview (Part 3 of Finding Volunteer Work) takes learners through the process of preparing and practicing for an interview, with respect specifically to the volunteer job they applied for in Part 2 of FVW: Applying for a Job. This third LAB completes the process involved in finding volunteer work. It constitutes an excellent preparation for learners who want to learn about proper interview techniques and etiquette: i.e., appropriate responses to interview questions, correct behaviour during the interview, suitable attire in a professional situation, and a follow-up thank-you note. The proposed learning activities are similar to the steps involved in any job interview and will provide the learner with the tools needed to participate in a job interview with confidence.

In each of the three activities in the LAB, learners engage in several categories of actions as they explore the last stage of the job search process--the interview and the follow-up thank-you note. In doing so, they develop their proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in an integrated fashion. In the process, they exercise and develop their operational competencies, extend and refine their language knowledge, and develop more positive attitudes. (A Teacher's Guide for this LAB is provided as a separate document.)

This LAB, along with the two previous ones in Finding Volunteer Work, is specifcally geared to learners who are or soon will be on the job market.
