News is everywhere! Does the manner in which news is presented to us affect our understanding of the event? In this learning situation, students will explore how different media use different formats to cater to different audiences. As a final production, they will have their chance to give either a written or oral report on an event of their choice.
The pedagogical intention for this learning situation is to get students to explore and understand the different techniques and mechanismes of the English language that can be used to inform. All 3 competencies are targeted by this LS.
It is suggested to either give this LS somewhere in the middle of the course to explore the different features or toward the end of the course to see how learners will reinvest what they have learned. Please read the teacher's guide before giving the LS to students.
