DESCRIPTION

The goal of this scenario is to help adult learners use oral and written discourse to deal competently with the real-life situation of buying a used car. This scenario allows the adult learner to engage in a variety of reading, writing, listening and oral interaction activities that simulate an authentic experience of researching a used car, making an informed choice, and acquiring a car. The scenario is comprised of the following three learning situations: 1- Finding Out How to Buy a Used Car 2- Selecting a Used Car 3- Purchasing a Used Car The activities found in this scenario can be applied to similar real-life situations in which the adult learner needs to buy a used consumer item.

INTENTION PÉDAGOGIQUE

1. Finding Out How to Buy a Used Car -Understand and use simple everyday language in order to find information on how to buy a used car. 2.Selecting a Used Car -Understand and use simple, everyday language to research and compare information in order to purchase a used car. 3. Purchasing a Used Car -Understand and use simple, everyday language in order to purchase a used car.

Utilisation

The learning scenario constitutes an excellent preparation for learners who intend to purchase a used car since the proposed learning activities are similar to the steps involved when buying a used car. When they follow through with the scenario and gain some experience, learners will be better prepared to purchase a used car.
